Happy 2012!

...to everybody. May your hopes become real! By the way, we have the compitition schedule done for 2012. We tried to keep it out of holidays, other shoots, and spaced evenly. Thanks The "new" committee. Harry, Cobus and Wimpie.

The Buffalo is Won!

And so the first winner for a Buffalo Raffle by SABA came and went...

Thank you SA Hornbill Safaris, and Louis Fouche.

The winner was determined by drawing 10 entries from the internet ticket sales,
10 entries from the October shoot, and 10 from the November shoot.

The winner was the drawn from these 30 tickets. Some people where actually drawn twice as finalist,
and therefore had more than one ticket in the hat.
We would like to congratulate Louis Daniel Schutte for winning the Buffalo.
Louis is a member of SABA from 2009, and a big supporter of our competitions. He did his bowhunting
proficiency certification (BProC) with in 2010.

Included in his prize is accommodation, meals, the works.
Enjoy Louis!
(Next year, we are going even bigger...)

The Year-end prize is Won (R20,000)!

The year en prize is drawn from the group of top shooters and frequent participants. The rules are simple:
The best 4 scores with broadheads or mechanicals is added, you must have participated in 4 shoots, and any shoots more than 5 gives you 5 points more. Everybody with 280 points qualified for the draw. Of course, you must also be present at the last shoot, and be a SABA member.

Petro Van Reenen is the winner this year. Petro is a SABA member from 2010, and has been shooting excellent in the mechanical class. She in fact won this category for this year with a final score of 91% (7th overall)!

Congratulation Petro.

SABA's new penetration requirements (as used in BProC 2012)

On a hunting subject, SABA presented the penetration model to the government. This model is now thoroughly tested by among others, the traditional bowhunters. What makes them important in this exercise, is that their equipment in general generate less kinetic energy/momentum than compound bows, and while still being lethal, forms the lower bounds of our model's predictions. Indeed, the model works for them too.

If you want to see what this model predicts, please try the next link: http://www.sabowhunters.co.za/swd/asp/MinReq.asp
